Five Catholic school teams will vie Nov. 7 for berths in the championship round of the CIF-Southern Section girls’ volleyball playoffs, after posting quarterfinal victories Nov. 4.

Marymount and Mater Dei, the top two ranked teams in Division 1; La Salle, No. 1 in Division 3; and La Reina and St. Paul, Nos. 1 and 2 in Division 5, earned their way into the semifinals last Saturday, four of the five posting straight-set victories.

Six other Catholic school teams were defeated in the quarterfinals, although Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks took matters to a fifth set, after battling to a 27-25 win in the fourth in their Division 2 loss to El Dorado.

Following are the quarterfinal results and semifinal matchups, with won-lost records and year-end regular-season rankings:

 

Division 1: Marymount d. Long Beach Poly, 25-21, 26-24, 25-20; Mater Dei d. San Juan Hills, 25-21, 25-13, 22-25, 25-15; Redondo Union d. Santa Margarita, 25-14, 25-23, 24-26, 25-16. SF: No. 1 Marymount (29-7) vs. No. 5 Redondo Union (33-4); No. 2 Mater Dei (32-5) vs No. 6 Corona Del Mar (22-6).

Division 3: La Salle d. Yorba Linda, 26-24, 25-14, 25-20. SF: No. 1 La Salle (24-5) vs No. 4 Sage Hill (22-8).

Division 4: Crean Lutheran d. Alemany, 24-26, 25-12, 25-23, 25-22.

Division 5: La Reina d. Xavier Prep, 25-23, 25-10, 25-17; St. Paul d. Diamond Bar, 25-10, 25-23, 25-22. SF: No. 1 La Reina (28-6) vs No. 4 Sonora (27-3); No. 2 St. Paul (24-10) vs No. 6 Quartz Hill (28-3).
