Employees of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles serving in parish, school and departmental ministry are invited to attend the second C3 Technology Conference, scheduled Aug. 5-8 at Loyola Marymount University in Westchester.Parish, school and archdiocesan staff who are interested in integrating technology into their ministries are encouraged to attend this free event, designed to introduce and enhance familiarity with 21st century learning tools. The conference will help attendees discover how to integrate technology through observance of best practices, skills development, use of learning management systems, new forms of collaboration, proper use of technology (including social media), and thoughtful planning and sustainability. Various workshops and keynote talks will be presented daily. Participants may attend one day or all four days, and are encouraged to bring their own devices such as a laptop, iPad, tablet and smartphones. Recording of presentations is not permitted.The C3 Technology Conference was originally developed in order to provide varied training to the 25 pilot sites of the program. This year, the conference has been opened to all sites and ministries in the archdiocese. The conference is a collaborative effort developed by the archdiocesan Catholic Communications Collaboration (CCC), which brings together officials from various archdiocesan departments, chaired by Dr. Kevin Baxter, superintendent of elementary schools. The CCC also includes Karla Briseno, administrative coordinator and training manager, and Luzanne Otte, project manager. Other core team members are Margaret Graf, David Moore, David Schmitt, Jim McClune, Jim Celloni, Msgr. David Loftus, Mike Norman, Margaret Matijasevic and Alex Paen.Sessions will be held at LMU’s St. Robert’s Hall, 1 LMU Drive, Los Angeles.
