St. Bernardine Medical Center’s recent 2016 “Gathering at Twilight” gala honored the 150th anniversary of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, which founded the hospital in 1931, and Steve Barron, who served as president of St. Bernardine’s from 1999 to 2015.

On Oct.15, more than 500 loyal and generous supporters of Dignity Health - St. Bernardine Medical Center celebrated the hospital’s 85th anniversary during their annual “Gathering at Twilight” gala.

Attendees enjoyed dinner, music and live and silent auctions as part of the fundraising event at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, raising more than $245,000 to benefit the hospital’s heart and stroke program.

The event also honored the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the hospital’s sponsoring congregation, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary.

Dan Murphy, vice president of philanthropy for Dignity Health, Inland Empire, said it was a privilege to honor the sisters. “It is through their vision and inspiration that St. Bernardine has become one of the leading health care providers in the Inland Empire.”

Steve Barron, who retired after serving as the hospital’s longest tenured president and administrator from 1999 to 2015, also received a special tribute.
