Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 19 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent Chapel in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, for Felician Sister Mary Angela Gawlik, who died Aug. 15; she was 82 years old. The Mass was followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Born to Anthony and Cecilia Mika Gawlik in Texas on April 19, 1933, Sister Gawlik entered the Felician Sisters Convent upon graduating high school in 1952. She chose teaching as her ministry, and taught in numerous places across the country, including Anaheim, Pomona and Claremont in the state of California.
Sister Gawlik is survived by her brothers Nick, Herman, Lambert and Alvin Gawlik, and by her sisters Dorothy Moy and Rose Janysek. Memorial donations may be made to: Felician Sisters of North America, 4210 Meadowlark Lane SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124-1021.
