Lauren Peters, a senior at San Gabriel Mission High School, has signed to play volleyball for Concordia College. The announcement was made on April 23.

Peters has already achieved impressive levels of success during her time at Mission High School. She is a two-time California Interscholastic Federation championship winner and two-time All League Most Valuable Player. Peters is also listed in Southern California as one of the top 50 in the blocks category.

The soon-to-be-graduate credited her success to coach Ivan Barajas, who believed in her “even when I continually doubted myself,” she said. She also thanked all the coaches at Mission High School, saying, “It was their words of encouragement that helped me get to this point in my athletic career.”

In addition to the offer from Concordia College, Peters had been offered a full scholarship to Alcorn State University in Mississippi and to Daemen College in New York.

Peters remains slightly hesitant about her transition into college, but says, “I am ready for the challenge.”
