This week, The Tidings congratulates all high school graduates, and in a particular way salutes the 6,200 young women and men who have earned their diplomas from the 51 Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Beginning May 10 (at St. Genevieve, Panorama City) and concluding June 12 (at St. Monica Academy, Pasadena), ceremonies were held — both on- and off-campus — to honor the class of 2013, not simply for fulfilling the necessary academic requirements, but for offering service to school, church and community during the past four years, a period that was both demanding and exciting.Now, an overwhelming majority of these youth will continue their education in academia, and in life, at scores of colleges and universities throughout the country, assisted by scholarships and grants they have earned (which total well into the millions of dollars).Congratulations, Class of 2013!Editor’s note: All 51 high schools were invited to participate in this section by supplying information and photos to The Tidings.
