On Dec. 11, the Friars of the Sick Poor received a new member into their community. St. Catherine Parish in Reseda hosted the rite of investiture of the habit and profession of first vows on the vigil of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the friars’ patroness.

Brother James took the name of James Joseph and will continue as coordinator for the poverty program in the parish and religion teacher at St. Catherine’s School.

Father Paul Griesbraber, pastor, celebrated the Mass. The friars, who have hope as a charism, assist the sick poor and marginalized. They encourage finding redemptive meaning in suffering.
