A Mass of Resurrection was held July 23 at Holy Name of Mary Church, San Dimas, for Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Father Thomas Mullen, who died July 15; he was 64. Funeral Mass was celebrated the following day in Ardee, County Louth, Ireland.
Born in Ireland on April 30, 1951, Father Mullen entered the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in 1968 and was ordained to the priesthood in January 1975, at the age of 23. He taught high school in Ireland from 1974 to 1984, and served in parish ministry from 1984 to 1995.
Following a sabbatical, Father Mullen returned to parish ministry in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, serving as pastor of Holy Name of Mary Church in San Dimas, and later at St. Paul the Apostle, Chino, where he remained until December 2014.
