Dignity Health’s Southern California Hospitals will be participating in a yearly national kindness movement, partnering with 109 Catholic and public schools to bring kindness-related activities, including teddy bear clinics, art shows and a “kindness walk” to thousands of students.
This will be the third year Dignity Health is participating in the Great Kindness Challenge, which will take place Jan. 25 to Jan. 29. Last year, Dignity Health’s participation in the challenge ended with a new Guinness World Record for the largest collage of cut out handprints.
“Our healing ministry is centered on human kindness. We believe, and research supports, that kindness is a healing force,” said Steven R. Barron, senior vice president of operations in Southern California for Dignity Health.
The challenge, created by the nonprofit Kids for Peace, is a bullying prevention initiative dedicated to creating a culture of kindness in elementary, middle and high schools nationwide. The event encourages participating students to complete at least 50 acts of kindness in one week.
