Last month, students at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino served the needy at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, preparing meals for more than 8,000 disadvantaged members of the community.
The volunteer campaign was part of the school’s IMPACT program, a one-week service program that allows students and teachers to live the Carmelite spirit through service to others.
This year, the students came together for the program’s seventh annual event with the central themes of hunger, creation, vulnerability and justice.
“The evangelization of the students begins with the IMPACT program,” said Brother John Sprissler, O. Carm. “They develop an awareness of God’s creations, recognition of the marginalized in the world and respect for those living in poverty.”
