Beginning Experience, a weekend for people who have experienced the loss of a spouse through separation, divorce or death, will be held Sept.26-28 at Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino.

Endorsed by the Office of Family Life, the weekend was first presented 40 years ago in Texas, developed by Sister Josephine Stewart and a divorced friend, Ann Marie Lima, as an adaptation of the Marriage Encounter Weekend process. It is now offered in nine countries on three continents.

Cost is $250 per person for a shared room, or $325 per person for a private room. (There is a $25 per person discount if paid in full prior to the weekend.) Cost includes program, materials, lodging, and five meals.
