Archbishop José H. Gomez joined with 70 prominent spiritual leaders and artists to write the newly-released book, “What Did Jesus Ask?”

Each writer begins their short contemplation with a selected question Jesus asks in the Gospels. The writers provide context, contemporary and traditional interpretations, and quote Scripture passages to arrive at the answers.

Archbishop Gomez selected the question, “What do you want?” (John 18: 4,7). In the book, Gomez writes, “What did we want and what were we looking for?” He adds, “Like those first disciples, we too have found the answer in our seeking. We have come to see that it was always and only Jesus.”

The archbishop notes that we are all created with a purpose. “Each of us is playing the part He has given us in His mission — trying to create the kind of world that God intended for his children. A world where no one is a stranger, where everyone is welcomed and wanted, and nobody is discarded or marginalized.”

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, Sister Rosemary Nyirumbe and Cardinal George Pell also contributed to the book.
